Dynamite Rex - 3D Environments
Double Cast Skeleton Raaar Figures in 3” and 6” sizes
Worldbuilding for a Roaring Icon – RAAAR by Dynamite Rex
As part of the promotional launch for the collectible figure RAAAR by Dynamite Rex, the assignment involved the creation of immersive 3D environments that visually expanded the character’s universe. These environments were not simply display sets—they were narrative-driven worlds designed to reinforce the mythos behind the figure and evoke the sense of place and personality that defined RAAAR.
The project included the design and modeling of multiple themed settings: a weathered, coal-dark mine shaft with heavy timber structures and flickering lanterns; a fractured arctic iceberg, glistening with icy textures and atmospheric fog; and a mysterious asteroid cave, illuminated by alien bioluminescence and layered geology. Each scene was built in 3ds Max with an emphasis on material richness, lighting, and spatial storytelling—principles often found in themed entertainment and dark ride environments.
In addition to the digital scenes, the scope of work extended into 3D-printed models and physical accessory development. Several of these models were adapted for use in resin casting, bridging digital design with physical prototyping. The goal was to maintain design consistency across mediums while supporting the production needs of the toy line.
A separate component of the project involved producing a promotional animation featuring the RAAAR figure in a stylized city environment. Rendered in a bold, blue-and-white, sketch-inspired visual style, the animation portrayed RAAAR rampaging through a miniature metropolis—playfully wreaking havoc among its tiny citizens. This piece served as a dynamic, character-focused counterpart to the static environment work, offering a different lens into the figure’s personality and appeal.
Together, these deliverables formed a cohesive promotional toolkit—spanning narrative environments, physical fabrication, and animated storytelling. The work combined elements of architectural visualization, technical design, and show set-inspired narrative design to help bring the world of RAAAR vividly to life
